WELCOME

Though our business is assisting in the selling and buying of residential and commercial properties, we would be remiss in our social obligations, if we did not inform new home buyers/builders and current home owners of ways to address the bigger issue of the cost of owning their homes. The obvious place to start is with energy-efficiency. There are also funding sources for multi-family and commercial properties to go green.

When you take a look around and see what is going on today with gasoline and home heating oil, you have to believe alternative and renewable energy sources must play a major role in meeting future energy demands. Just how large a role depends on many factors, some of which are; advances in technology, economic viability and probably the biggest obstacle … public acceptance? The time to put eco/solar alternatives, “GREEN LIVING” first has come. We must end or at least strongly curtail the use of fossil fuels. Environmental preservation for the protection of our beautiful planet calls for all of us to increase our awareness of our natural surroundings. We must integrate our support and usage of environmental alternatives into our lives.

Building Green incorporates many concepts of design. First and foremost is the concept of a “sustainable building”. This incorporates the use of Green building materials and products but it does not end there. Energy conservation, improved occupant health, and water conservation are also intricate parts to the puzzle. Waste reduction and recycling during the construction process are added factors.

As we consider Building Green, we will look at some of the alternative energy sources in home building or remodeling, such as; Photovoltaic for the production of electricity (from the sun),Geothermal (from the ground) for the heating and cooling of your home and Wind Power from the Power of Wind. As the page develops we will add information on fuel cells, bio-energy and hydro-energy, though these options may be more realistically used in a commercial rather than residential design.
